Due to a few game sessions passing with no updates, this will be a truncated version of recent events. Go here to read up on events leading up to this update.

Upon returning to Kyrador, the heroes found that the nation was on the verge of civil war despite the monstrous army at their doorstep. The king has been ill and not able to attend court to run the kingdom. The prince has been missing, supposedly out carousing with the common folk. And three highly placed nobles are vying to take over the throne.

The group was asked by Administrator Thurn to attend court in case the nobles decided to do something stupid and attack one another as the spilling of noble blood would undoubtedly lead to civil war. The heroes did attend and witnessed the king’s return. The king stated that any attempts to usurp the throne would be seen as high treason and anyone caught conspiring to take the throne would be publicly executed. As the king settled an assassin using shadow magic appeared behind the throne and attempted to kill the king. The archmage that accompanied the wizards from Aerinvale intervened and saved the king.

The heroes were then asked to speak with the various nobles. They did so and found an account from a lesser noble to be a bit more compelling than the others. It seemed that middle classed merchants were disappearing. Looking into it, the heroes were met with silence from the locals. They were then attacked by brigands, and shortly after approached by a young Halfling girl who told the group that someone important wanted to speak with them.

This important personage was none other than Prince Marcus Gryphon VIII who wanted them to meet with him and the leader of the thieves’ guilds known as the Deadmen at midnight. They wne to the meeting and found out that the noble that used to back the guild known as the Deadmen was now backing a mysterious new guild who was killing any who entered their territory and they were expanding aggressively.

The guild leader would not give up the name on his honor, but was more than willing to point their way to the new guild’s hideout. The heroes fought their way to the hideout and forcefully infiltrated it. As they made their way further they found a way up into a shrine to Tiamat. The stairs there eventually led to a wine cellar in a residence in the Noble’s District. The group would find out as they made their way out of the manse that it belonged to none other than Count William Draken, their long time benefactor.

After receiving a magic message from the prince about a Ball being held for him to meet eligible noble women, the heroes realized that it would be a golden opportunity for Count William to strike and kill both the king and the prince in one swift blow, throwing the nation into chaos and allowing for Tiamat’s forces to conquer it with little to no resistance.

Now the heroes race to the ball, hoping to reach it before William Draken strikes.

Continued...

Rainsong

A diminutive pixie, Rainsong and her companion, Creeper the phase spider, have come to aid Emmalie...and to search for Rainsong's missing husband.

Emmallie

Called Lee by her friends and allies, Emmallie is a wise female eladrin who was once a powerful and skillful swordmage who recently discovered a love of the pure art of wizardry. She is out seemingly to prove herself, and secretly to eliminate the dragon that killed her granddaughter.

Verathmus

Verathmus joined the group after they rescued him from one of Tiamat’s military prisons. He is a silver dragonborn and a devout follower of Tamara, the dragon goddess of light and healing. He is a quiet sort, and the group doesn’t know a whole lot about him. Yet.

Xerath

A mysterious male fell eladrin, Xerath escaped the cruelty of his own people and hopes to use his unnatural control of storms to make a name for himself, though making some extra coin wouldn’t hurt either.

Korrosion

The general of Tiamat’s armies and the principal enemy of the group. Korrosion is a megalomaniac that would give a red dragon a decent stand up fight, which is unusual for a black dragon, since they are generally far weaker than the reds.

Alira

Alira died fighting the black dragon Korrosion trying to avenge Redgar. Her sacrifice has galvanized the rest of the group who wish to wreak vengeance upon the monster that killed their dear friend.
